How to watch capri blue volcanic eruption today
New Zealand’s capri volcano erupted yesterday afternoon, sending huge plumes of ash into the sky and sending ash clouds over the country.
More than 70,000 people in New Zealand were without power, with more than 400 people reported to be injured in the town of Maungarewa.
Fire crews were working to contain the ash that was sent by the volcano, which erupted about 5:30 p.m.
Local media reported that about 100 people were trapped in the crater, with firefighters working to extinguish the flames.
A witness told Radio New Zealand the plumes looked like they were coming from a nearby power plant.
