Hawaii, California to get paid for super volcano tourism

A California court ruled Tuesday that Hawaii and California will pay for the construction of the world’s largest super volcano.

The ruling is a victory for those pushing for the federal government to recognize Hawaii’s right to own its own national parks and monuments, which the island and its allies say is an essential part of its sovereignty.

Hawaii and California’s governments have argued that their laws protect their sovereignty and are a key part of the island’s economy.
